Grupa LOTOS has now published its 2012 Integrated Annual Report. The publication, titled 'Culture of Values', is available from www.raportroczny.lotos.pl and presents the company's economic, social and environmental performance in line with the A+ requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative. For the first time, it also includes the information required by the newly-introduced GRI Oil and Gas Sector Supplement (OGSS). LOTOS is the only company in the industry in Poland to have expanded the scope of the results it presents to include these sectoral indicators.

Most companies only present pure business criteria in their annual reports - the numbers which determine the results. However, at LOTOS we take into account many other factors which are difficult to measure and which provide what we consider to be the Company's social value. We believe that our mission and system of corporate values influence the quality of our operation and our development prospects as much as any other way of doing business. In recent years, we have proved the effectiveness of taking a responsible approach to issues such as respect for human capital, expertise in action, transparency in decision-making and communication and collaboration with our customers and partners. The title of the latest Annual Report refers to the culture of values upon which we are constantly developing the company," notes President of the Management Board of Grupa LOTOS, Paweł Olechnowicz.

Information in the OGSS part of the Report is intended for businesses whose core activity is in the prospecting, extraction, production, refining and transportation and sale of crude oil, natural gas and petrochemicals. Introduction of the Global Reporting Initiative's additional guidelines on non-financial reporting comes from the fact that firms working in the oil and gas sector play an important role in the wider economy and also have a significant impact on sustainability issues.

We have decided to include the additional performance indicators in our reports when we saw that they are consistent with The LOTOS Group's Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy until 2015. These include human rights and safe practices, resource management, the contribution of the Company to the economic and social development of the country, cooperation with local communities, the development of low-carbon emission energy sources, and environmental management and protection, including the disposal of waters and chemicals used in hydrocarbon production operations. Greater transparency in reporting can also help increase the understanding of own sector,” notes Jovita Twardowska, Communication & CSR Director at Grupa LOTOS.

The 2012 Annual Report is now Grupa LOTOS's fourth so-called Integrated Report. Currently, there are around 100 such reports published annually around the globe. In Poland, LOTOS is one of the leaders of this model of annual reporting. The key advantage of Integrated Reporting from the consumers' point of view is the possibility of comprehensive and reliable assessment of the impact of a company's business activities on the environment, combined with the opportunities and challenges it faces in terms of sustainable development. Selected parts of the report have also been verified by PwC, who conduct their verifications in accordance with the International Standard on Assurance Engagements 3000.

The LOTOS Annual Report is also available in an electronic edition, which further facilitates reading with an array of online features. These include the ability to download selected chapters in .pdf format, social tools for sharing of information with other readers, and quick access to topics of particular interest via searchable content. According to research conducted by LOTOS, previous readers of its Integrated Annual Reports have enjoyed the interactive table of GRI content, and the possibility to easily compare data. The Annual Reports are also integrated with the Company website, as well as being linked to previous Reports. The publication is environmentally friendly, being printed on paper from sustainable sources, and user-friendly, being additionally designed for people with impaired vision and the blind.
